Pierson, Mildred L.
Mildred L. Pierson The Gassville, Ark., native was born Feb. 1, 1924. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at age 13 and was baptized in the White River in Arkansas, along with her sister, Imogene. After graduation from high school and business college, she worked as a secretary to the general superintendent of an ammunitions plant in Jacksonville, Ark., during World War II. While in Jacksonville, she helped with a prison ministry in Little Rock, alongside soldiers from Camp Robinson. She united in marriage to Adrian Leroy Pierson on Oct. 8, 1944, in Little Rock. In 1956, they moved from Arkansas to Bowling Green, where they raised their three children, Charlotte, Cheryl and Don. Mrs. Pierson was a homemaker, an artist, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bowling Green since 1956. She was a member of the Victoria Sunday School Class, as well as a former Sunday school teacher and choir member, and also attended the International Bible Study Fellowship for several years. She was a member of the Southern Kentucky Artist Guild. She was a daughter of the late Baxter A. Miller and Hazel Sinor Miller and the wife of the late Adrian Leroy Pierson, who died Nov. 9, 2000. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Linda Lee Pierson; a sister, Imogene Williams; and a brother, James Baxter “J.B.” Miller.Funeral is at 2 p.m. Sunday at J.C. Kirby and Son Funeral Home, Lovers Lane chapel, with burial in Bowling Green Gardens. Visitation is from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and until the service time Sunday at the funeral home.Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Oneida Baptist Institute or Hospice of Southern Kentucky.Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home in Greensburg is in charge of arrangements.Online condolences may be made at www.cowherdandparrott.com.Survivors include two daughters, Charlotte Hicklin and her husband, John, of Madisonville, and Cheryl Blakeman and her husband, Barry, of Greensburg; a son, Don Pier
