JAGGERS, DORA E.

Dora E. Manning Jaggers, 89, died Feb. 2, 2010, at a Bowling Green nursing home, where she was given loving professional and personal care through her final days. The Logan County native was born June 6, 1920. She was a daughter of the late John Epley and Lela Daniel Epley. She was preceded in death by all of her six brothers and sisters; her husband, Willard Jaggers; and her former husband, Grant Manning, father of her twin daughters, Mae and Faye, who died at birth. Her sister, Pearl E. Preston, and brother-in-law, John M. Preston, took her to raise and care for her at age 8 upon the death of her father. She looked upon them as loving parents and will be interred next to them at Fairview Cemetery. She worked many years in bookkeeping at banks in Virginia and Kentucky, retiring from Bowling Green Bank and Trust at the end of her working days, after which she enjoyed traveling to Hawaii and to a number of the provinces of Canada. She was talented from an early age in drawing and painting. She crafted a line of original greeting cards that were sold in local venues for a number of years. Working for a time in the cosmetics department at Pushin’s Department Store, she was proud of having created a travel kit of cosmetics for Faberge Cosmetics, from whom she received an award for that product, which they, in turn, marketed. She was dedicated to her faith and her brothers and sisters in Christ. In recent years, she was a committed member of Eastside Church of Christ, and her brothers and sisters there were faithful in visiting her and being otherwise attentive whenever needed. She was the most dedicated, supportive and loving mother a son could have.Memorial service is at 1 p.m. Saturday at J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Home, Lovers Lane chapel, with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation is from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Eastside Church of Christ at 1706 Smallhouse Road.Survivor
