BROWN, FRANCIS DALE "SKIP"
Francis Dale “Skip” Brown, 72, died Jan. 2, 2010, after a lengthy illness.
The Hettinger, N.D., native was resident of San Francisco since 1995. He was a construction engineer who worked for Bechtel on many projects coast to coast. He also worked for four years in Saudi Arabia. His passion was working with wood and at one time, he made his living as a carpenter. He loved to carve and fashion furniture out of reclaimed and rare woods. He was also a member of the First and Tenth Special Forces and served three tours in Vietnam. He served in the Army for 15 years and was the recipient of a number of military awards and honors, including the Bronze Star. He was a longtime resident of Bowling Green and was active at Greenwood Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. His extended circle of family and friends circles the globe. Skip’s sense of fairness, his kindness, his quiet sense of humor and his honor will be missed by all who loved him. He was a son of the late Francis Dale Brown and Marie Elizabeth Brown. He was preceded in death by a brother, Timothy Lee Brown.
Memorial service with military honors is at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Bloch Memorial Chapel in Fairview Cemetery No. 1. Burial will follow at Brock A. Berry Veterans Section of Fairview Cemetery. J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Home, Broadway Avenue chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Brisbois Brown; his first wife, Rosalind Smith Brown, of Bowling Green, and their children, Dale Brown and his son, Clint Brown, of Bowling Green, Tina Jo Hargett and her husband, Ronnie, and their children, Curtis and Amanda, of Rich Pond, and Michael Brown and his wife, Maria, of Belleair, Fla.; two sisters, Kathy Dobrowski and her husband, Don, and Pamela Edwards and her husband, Steve; and several nieces and nephews on both sides of the family who love and admire him.
